7.62 (pronounced "seven point six two") is a caliber of ammunishun. Th' full nomenclature is 7.62 x 51mm, also known as 7.62 NATO on account o' it was th' NATO stan'ard in th' 1950’s an' early ‘60’s, o' commercially as .308. Th' Soviets also use a 7.62 roun', but it is sho'ter (39mm vahsus 51mm) an' cornsiderably less pow'ful. Th' 7.62 NATO caliber is still used today in sniper rifles (M21, M24) an' machine guns (M240, M60) due t'its range an' penetrashun. Th' 7.62x51mm roun' delivahs on over twice th' git-up-and-git of th' 5.56mm (o' .223, used in th' M-16, CAR-15, an' M249 SAW). It has significantly mo'e inergy at 1,000 yards than th' 5.56mm does at 500. Wif both roun's at 1,000 yards, th' 7.62 is on over three times as pow'ful. Yo' reckon yer 9mm o' .44 Magnum is bad? Th' 7.62 is mo'e pow'ful at 500 yards than a .44 Magnum at th' muzzle. At about 1,100 o' 1,200 yards, it will "only" hit as hard as a 9mm at th' muzzle. Talk about bein' able t'retch out an' touch someone! Th' 7.62 squad was foun'ed by some old high skoo six packin' buddies who misspent their yo'th togither. All of this hyar origeenal group is fo'mer military, fum almost all of th' services. Or yo' c'd say fum all of th' military services, on account o' th' Air Fo'ce isn’t pow'ful a military service. We’re jest in it fo' th' amoosement (yeah, like we’re in it fo' th' gals o' th' money! Fry mah hide!). It beats chasin' a stoopid li'l ball aroun' a go'f course, an' it’s cheaper, too. Although th' carts is kind of fun t'drive. Ennyway, th' squad started along th' Gu'f Coast (Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi), but we haf expan'ed t'Wess ole Virginny, th' "frozen no'th" of Noo Virginny an' Michigan, an' internashunally t'Kinada. We hold meetin's in sech places as Key West, Biloxi, Galveston, an' Kincun, as enny fool kin plainly see. Yo' know, ennywhar thar’s a betch, gals in bikinis, an' alcohol, ah reckon. Look fo' us. We’ll be thar. Good shootin'! Fry mah hide!
