www.atek.citymax.com/page/page/1608482.htmThis think was a half parkerized / half rusted and pitted abused pistol when I got it. If you look close you can see small angles machined at the front and rear of the slide , this is becasue the rusted pits were to deep to polish out at these points. When it was parkerized the lettering on the slide was polished to the point it was hard to read. mod list , Colt 70 Series Combat Commander 1.hand beveled mag well 2.checkered flat mainsrrping housing 3.hi-cut frontstrap 4.frontstrap grip insert 5.steel insert pachmayrs 6.hand fit Ed Brown beavertail 7.Ed Brown right hand safety 8.slide stop detented 9.black King`s extra long trigger 10.Novak low mount front and rear sights 11.Wilson Combat match barrel bushing 12.barrel muzzle corwned at 15 degrees 13.front slide serrations 14.throated barrel 15.polished feed ramp 16.colt hammer thinned .010 each side 17.trigger pull set at crisp 3.5 lbs 18.slide surface ground to remove bad lettering 19.full length guide rod with group gripper 20.frame bead blasted and coated with Brownell`s bake on clear coat laquer finish 21. frame and small parts bead blasted and caoted in brownell`s bake on black coat laquer finish 22. I prefer the 5 inch gov`t models myself but I didn`t have a Commander Model when I came across this one plus it was a `70 series so I bought this one. I have this one Commander and one Officers Model , the rest are 5 inch models.
I tried one 9mm pistol which was a Browning HP but the 9 just doesn`t do anything for me. I would like to try a 1911A1 in the 9 X 23mm chambering but the standard 9 X 19 is weak.

I put up a few more pics. Not trying to bore anyone with guns but I off work and bored , need something to do besides shovel snow. That is a M70 Winchester in .308 I built with a #7 Shilen Match stainless barrel , McMillian McHale stock pillar bedded to the stainless control feed M70 action. Leupold 4.5-14 Mil Dot scope on dual dovetail leupold bases. Action squared , bolt lugs lapped and shoots under .5 MOA. I keep saying I am going to do one like it in .300 win mag but haven`t got around to it , I should have built a 300 first and then worried about a .308 Couple pics of a 5" .45acp Springfiled in progress , they look rough until final finishing. This one is getting a match Storm Lake barrel instead of just a match bushing like the commander. I am considering a 6" barrel in the 5" slide with the exposed 1 " mag-na-ported. That OD furniture is for a FN Fal and made by Penguin Small Arms. The FN parts are from a german STG parts kit I picked up at Knob Creek , I also have a parts kit from a Chile military Fn Fal that was made in Brazil by the same factory as the Springfield Armory FN. That block of steel roughly in the shape of an FN is a 40% complete casting. That plus the parts kit plus the red mill in the other pic plus 7 US made parts to comply with Bush Seniors import ban equals a FN Fal for about 250 bucks. www.tanneryshop.com/PRODUCTS.html This place has some good stuff for the home gunsmith.

Good stuff. Where exactly is Pembroke? I'm in Shepherdsville, about 20 miles south of Louisville.

Louisville is about a 3 hour drive for me. I am down in the Kentucky Lake area ,about 40 minutes east of the lakes.
I drive through your town on the way to Knob Creek and National Gun Day in Louisville. I haven`t been to either of those is a few years. Now that the " liberal pleasing assualt weapon cosmetic look a like ban" has expired I need to get back to the creek and see what is new for sale.
I have a eight year old nephew I need to take to Gun Day or the Machine Gun Shoot , I want to get him started off on the right foot. I would hate for him to grow up thinking something like a Ruger is a real weapon.

Ruger a real weapon. LOL The mini-14's are good for the money. And, the 10-22 is so versatile, it's crazy. That's about it though. I about 10 minutes from Knob Creek. Basically, I'm about 1 1/2 miles west of town, and headed to 44 hill. Knob Creek Gun Range is west of me, on 44.
We used to go shoot there a lot, but I have'nt been in a long time. They do the machine gun shoots twice a year. In April, and October. They draw such a crowd, you cant hardly park with in a mile of that place.

Saggin,
I am about the same distance east of the lakes as Murray is to the west of them. I work in Hopkinsville and live about 10 miles east of Hopkinsville. I guess Murray is about a 90 minute drive.
My brother lives in Paducah , engineer for Ingram Towing and his son is going to Murray University this year.
TorqueNut,
The last time few times I have gone to the Machine Gun Shoot parking has been a real problem. I use to go on Fridays but it is just as crowded as saturdays anymore. I still go on occasion but not every shoot like I did in the early 90s. Gun Day in Louisville to me is a better show unless I am looking for something specific for a military rifle.

The Gun SHows in Louisville usually have about anything you are looking for. The problem is, I never have the money I need to get what I want, lol.
I'm currently working on refitting my M4, since the sissy ban is gone. I just wish the prices would have gone down, with the ban lifting.

Wider serrations? Do you mean like these? www.dlsports.com/image_pages/gray_pistol.htmThose are the easiest to cut of any I have done. That is the finish I used. It comes in the spray cans or in a liquid that you can apply with an air brush. Normal oven will handle the temps required. Depends on the color but I think the highest I had to go was around 300 F for the black and clear coats. Cover shipping costs and I will cut them for you. Just pick what style you would like.

Yeah, that's a good photo of the serrations I'm talking about, but that's only 4 - I was thinking more like 6 or 8.
I appreciate your offer, but please realize that if you do that, then ICE and Harley and Grannie may all start wanting the same thing, lol!
Did you do the sights on your pistol yourself? Did you stake them down or what? How about the trigger pull? You did that?
