The sights are Novak low mounts. They mount with a dovetail cut into the slide.
I have the cutters for the Novaks here someplace and the tools to cut the hammer and sear for the trigger pull. I would have to dig those out , haven`t done much gun work for a little while now ( got married in `99 and that cut out a lot of fun stuff )
I did everything that is on the Commander in those pictures. I had one pistol built by a gunsmith ( 10mm Delta Elite ) and I wasn`t satisifed with the work so I have done all my own since then.

Are the sights 3-dot or what? Can't tell from the photos and Novak has a ton of models.

OK, never mind that last post.
How about - if you installed Novak (or whatever) 3-dot sights and cut 8 serrations in the slide (each side) , what would we be talking about?

Modify the skin on your player and play one week of JO wearing a pink ballerina outfit and we will call it square on the .45 work.

I hear tell that he wears a pink ballerina costume while playing JO E any way so you aren't asking him for much Semtex.

Let me dig out my cutters to make sure I still have them. Give me a week or two and I will be caught up on work in the shop and I can do the work then. I moved last august and a lot of things are still in boxes or the landfill by mistake.
Take a look at Brownell`s catalog and pick out what style you want.
This is how I do mine....
1. I cut the slide and mount the rear sight on the pistol and then test fire with original front sight or a plain black blank sight if the front was too small.
2. I use the test firing to calculate how tall the front sight needs to be in order to zero the pistol with my prefered ammo ( Cor-Bon 200gr +P with the Speer flying ashtray bullet ). I don`t know if they still sell this load or not but I have enough stockpiled to defendd the homeplace a time or two.
3. Now knowing the sight height needed I can order the correct height front sight to zero my pistol.
I use plain black sights so that once I have them zeroed with the Cor-Bon ammo I can send off the slide for Tritium nite sight inserts and they will shoot point of aim with my prefered ammo load.

On this pistol, I'm not really concerned with low-profile sights. I'm thinking of King's 3-dot sights #104. www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=7637&title=FIXED+1911+HARDBALL+SIGHTSI don't know the tenon size needed, though. The slide is from 1974 or 75. I believe the wide tenon is for pistols newer than 1980 and the narrow is for 1970-80, but that may not be correct. I guess I need to send you the entire upper assembly - slide, barrel, compensator, etc. and you can slip it onto your Commander frame to test fire?
