Harley got on Teamspeak about 9:15 and reported that he was surprised that they still had power. Winds were kicking up but not too bad. They were ready to ride it out throughout the night and would call when they were able.

No word yet this morning, but the eye went through Gulf Shores, which is about 75 - 80 miles away. I am hoping they'll post some footage on the Biloxi TV channel of the aftereffects (http://wlox.com).

Thanks, Grizz. My sister called about 8:15 this morning. They lost some shingles and it was still gusty but they have power. She said it was a nerve-wracking night, waiting to see where it would go.
Haven't heard from anyone else yet, but I think they got a pretty light hit, actually. Frederick in 1979 was worse, it seems. It hit Mobile and Biloxi was without power for a week.

It's now the day after "Ivan the not so Terrible". We lost power over here at about 2210, and the wind and rain were cooking pretty good. Stayed up till about 0300 when I decided the storm would wake me if I needed to be awake, so I crashed. Up at daylight, storm gone, very minimal visible damage. Had two small trees in the pasture go down, and the dogloo over the well head blew off, and into the pond. No big deal. Had my power back on by 0700, just in time for coffee:) Visited with Harley this AM. No damage to the ranch, just one big oak tree uprooted, but out by the horse-shoe pits, and no real damage done. Grannie's TajMahal shooting house fared well They didn't yet have the power on, but Kev has a couple of generators, so they'll be fine, and can always come over here. The MS coast fared pretty well. Alabama and Pensacola, FL caught the worst of it. Haven't heard from my Mobile office yet, but expect a report by 1600 today. Did have the opportunity to shoot a snake in my driveway though. Zigged when he should have zagged, and got a Federal jacketed hollowpoint from my Kimber .45 for his trouble!! Love it when I get to shoot something!! Adios, ICE

Good deal! I had left messages earlier this morning on Harley's cell and Grannie's house phones but hadn't heard back from them. Glad things are OK!

All, I've been in Baldwin County Alabama and Pensacola the last three days and nights, and we (MS & LA) really dodged a big one. Gulf Shores and the Alabama coast got hit pretty bad but Pensacola was hammered!! I saw hundreds, and hundreds of houses that were totally demolished, semi's and buses overturned, big damn trees twisted, shattered and flung around. Saw three mobile homes on a hill, about 15 feet apart. The trailer in the middle was completely demolished, like it imploded, the two on either side were untouched! Weird.
We flew a P-3 from Corpus and another from Miami, with generators for our agents, and we delivered 4-55 gal drums of gas, and 40 odd 5 gallon cans of gas, so that those in the worst shape would have power. Gas lines miles long, at the few stations that have power to pump gas. I'm told that there are considerable more fatalities then have been reported, to include a floor that collapsed in one of the hospitals. It's real bad folks. If anyone ever considered donating to a relief fund, now woiuld be a good time.
One last thing...viewing the destruction from a weak Cat-4 or a strong Cat-3 reconfirmed my decision to get the hell out of dodge when they are bearing down on us. Can always pick up the pieces later, if you are alive.
Adios,
ICE7.62

I'll bet some of you thought I was buggy on the Wednesday before the hurricane hit, but I have been through these things and I know better than to sit in the path of a cat-4 storm. And you guys were doing that! You are just lucky it turned at the last hour and hit to the east of Mobile rather than the west. When Frederick hit, the coast was without power for a week, to say nothing of the damage.

Did Ivan do a u-turn just to be sure of hitting everyone on the 7.62 squad? Seems to be after TimberWolf and FireDevil now. I hope that you guys will be o.k.
